Cubed Steak Marsala Stroganoff

1 bottle pompeian Marsala Cooking wine.
6-8 cube steaks
Water

Place steaks in large pot and cover with entire bottle of Marsala and water to make the difference.  Bring to a boil for about 10-15 min.

1 1/2 sticks of butter
onion (about half cut up)

Remove steaks and place them in a large skillet with half a stick of butter.
Also, cut up remaining cup of butter and melt into marsala and water.  Heat and reduce to half.

Flour
When butter is melted in the skillet, and onions are clear, add enough flour to coat the steaks and make a paste out of remaing butter and then brown them.

Mushrooms
Crushed Garlic
Add contents of pot into skillet and add mushrooms and Garlic
Stir until thickened

Salt and pepper to taste.

Sour Cream
Stir in sour cream to taste.

Pour over cooked egg noodles

NOTE:  This was a concoction I ended up with while using what was left in my pantry.  The sauce is really tasty on its own but I was craving stroganoff and with sour cream, it made a fantastic version of stroggie!

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

4-6 pieces of frozen chicken
16 ounces in weight of sour cream
2 packages of onion soup mix
2 cans of cream of mushroom soup (or 1 can cream of chicken, 1 can cream of mushroom)
your choice of noodles or rice

I salt and peppered the chicken, and also added 4 tablespoons of butter.

Put the chicken into the slow cooker. In a bowl mix together all other ingredients and then pour over chicken in the slow cooker. Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours. During the last hour cook your noodles or rice. I also took the chicken out on a place and shredded it with 2 forks and added it back. Then add drained noodles or fully cooked rice to the mixture. Cook for another 30 minutes to and hour.

I forgot to take a photo, but this dish was really yummy, and obviously very easy. The hubby and kids loved it so I will for sure make it again.

I'm really into my slow cooker lately! I love the ease of it and the food is really good. Enjoy!

Mya and Lexi's Stroganoff

(Named by Jeff, Pepto Bismal Surprise, but only because of the color!)

1 1/2 lbs beef sliced thin (stir fry style)
1/2 yellow onion
1-2 cloves garlic
(optional 1 bunch sliced mushrooms)
1 tsp paprika
S&P to taste
1 large can crushed tomatos
3/4-1 cup sour cream
Butter Egg noodles

Saute meat and butter in a deep pan or skillet. Add onions once meat is browned, add garlic once onions are soft to prevent burning. Add can crushed tomatos over the top and use spoon to deglaze bottom of pan. add paprika, S&P. Simmer for 40 min (I never do this long but it's Mya's recipe first). Once cooked through reduce heat. Make noodles per pkg. Remove some of the hot sauce and add to sourcream to slowly bring up temp to prevent curdling. Once warm add cream to pan and combine. Poor over noddles and enjoy.

What's the Stroggie Story?

Since being married, I've noticed that everyone seems to have a different Stroganoff recipe. What's yours? I don't know why there's so many variations, but I seems to enjoy them all and like the variety. If you've got one, post it as a comment or create a post and label it "Stroganoff."

Here's ours:

*1 lb Stew meat cut into small chunks (Canned beef chunks work well too)
*1/2 tbsp dried onion
*2-3 cans Cream of Mushroom
*about 1/2 cup sour cream
*1/4 cup Beef Broth
*Worcestershire (a few shakes)
*Cooked egg noodles

Cook the meat all the way through in the onion
Drain any access grease or water
Add soup, sour cream, broth, Worcestershire and stir on med heat till hot
Serve over Cooked egg noodles.
